Joint Integrity for BP
The integrity of ‘flanged joints’ is critical to the safe operation of Coryton Refinery. Any failure leading to the escape of process materials could have catastrophic consequences. To prevent any such failure, a procedure was developed for making gasketted joints and it was vital that all craftsmen understood and followed it.
TVA was commissioned to produce a short video that would raise awareness of the critical nature of this task and highlight the key stages of the procedure. All craftsmen involved in this type of work have viewed the video and it is now a requirement that if they haven’t carried out the task for some time; they watch it again before doing so.
